The morning dawned misty, cold and frosty. It was touch and go if we’d be allowed to tread the precious greens of Letchworth.
36 “Michelin Men and Women” (dressed in as many as 6 layers to fight off the cold) took to the course starting at 09.30 with the mist rolling in from the west and the greens as hard as rock. The temperature rose as did the mist and we started to feel our toes and fingers again, but not for long as the wind rose a bit and its frosty bite forced us to don our hats coats and gloves once more!!!
We all completed the course in some style considering the conditions and enjoyed a warming two course lunch of steak and ale pie followed by spotted dick washed down with a little wine!!! A great time was had by all.
The competitions were hotly contested with Nearest the Pin going to guest Garrath Williams and Nearest the Pin in 2 going to Neil Meixner. The team prize was won by guests David and William Stranders, Ian Rideout and Glen Hedgecock on 90 points some 10 clear of the field.
The guest prize was won by Ian Rideout with a magnificent 38 ahead of Garrath Williams on 36. Congrats to those winners who each received a voucher to redeem at American Golf.
The Recessional Bowl (for EPIC Members) and a voucher for American Golf was hotly contested with David Bennett and Graham Howe on 31, Neil Meixner on 32 and runner up Jason Wood (cut 1) on 33. Winner on countback was Michael Foster (cut 2). Well done Michael, who told me it was the first win as a member of EPIC!! Long overdue!!
