New(ish) for us, it’s the second time, we gathered for an early morning start at East Herts Golf Club to play for the President’s Cup. The morning started misty but we managed some sunshine on a dry and autumnal day.
In the end 16 members and 8 guests completed the challenging course which was a usual in excellent condition, if playing long due to the lush conditions and the challenging rough.
All enjoyed a filling typically English late lunch of Soup, Steak and Ale Pie followed by spotted dick!!!
The competition was fierce with Andrew Richardson and Karl Gjertsen winning the Nearest the Pin and Nearest the Pin in 2 competitions. Raymond Gaughan was the Guest Winner with 30 points.
Rob Seeley (cut 2) won the coveted President’s Cup with 33 points from Ian Abley (cut 1) on 32 on count-back from Charles Gjertsen. We have a tradition in EPIC that members cannot win two prizes on the same day. So in the team competition although David Wannerton and Rob Seeley won on 40 points from Ian Lawson and Neil Meixner on 38, the prize money was divided between David Wannerton and 2nd place team member, special guest and ex-member Ian Lawson.
