The weather was magnificent at Brickendon Grange for the Captain’s Cup. The course was ideal for EPIC with challenges galore but the real possibility of getting in with a reasonable score.
28 Members and Guests took part in a very competitive round of golf after a sustaining Ham, Egg and Chips in the clubhouse.
An excellent 3-course dinner was enjoyed by members and guests during which the ball sweep raised £240 for our charity ‘Hertfordshire Air Ambulance’.
Andrew Hardy was presented with replica trophies for ‘The Recessionary Cup’ (Letchworth 2015) and last year’s Captain’s Cup (Porter’s Park)
Will Evans and guest Steven Hurworth won the ‘Nearest the Pin’ and ‘Nearest the Pin in 2’ competitions. Well done to them!
Guest winner by some distance was Adrian Izod on 39 points. (I was fortunate enough to witness this great round (which included 3 no-scores on the front 9).
In the EPIC tradition nobody can win more than one prize so despite Adrian and Graham Howe returning 48 points in the team prize competition the spoils went to Jason Wood and Andrew Richardson with 45.
The Captain’s Cup was hotly contested with 5 members on 33. Andrew Hardy (Cut 2) retained the Captain’s Cup with 20 points on the back 9 from Jason Wood (Cut 1) 17 on the back 9 from Neil Meixner, David Bennett and Michael Foster. Bad luck Jason – bet you wish you’d missed that putt now!!!
Well done to Andrew Hardy– He’s on a fantastic streak at the moment!!!
